Killmonger was another interesting character. I like his character a lot because I can relate in some ways. Being an African that grew up in America I can understand why he was hurt and the feeling of abandonment. Now I’m not saying the way he went about getting the throne was right but I can appreciate what he tried to do. He tried to share Wakanda resources to help the world but he also had some selfish motives so it made his plan seem bad. I appreciate the fact that he worked his ass off to get to Wakanda. Ultimately that’s every black person in America’s dream; to live a fulfilled life of acceptance.
Also can we talk about the fashion!!! The stylist HOOKED those characters up to the T. I liked that the director, producers, stylists and even makeup artists did their research. It made the story so much more believable and brought out the beauty of Africa. I loved that they showcased so many different tribes from all over Africa. It was amazing to see strong black women on the big screen and representing us well!
I loved seeing everybody dress up and represent the continent. I really enjoyed it but it had me thinking, why everybody all of a sudden think being African is so cool when I remember vividly a few years ago how much they used to tease us and call us names. Anyways I won’t get into this topic in this post, that’s another post for another day.
Have you all seen Black Panther? If so I would like to know your thoughts if you don’t mind.
