INTRODUCTION TO ADULT LIFE (WHAT I’VE LEARNED SO FAR)
How are your holidays going? I have learned a few things about adulthood that I would like to share for those of you who are heading in that direction and need a little heads up.
1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Believing in yourself is an essential to adulthood. There will come a time when nobody will believe in your dreams, actions, or words. You will be left to do that yourself. What you need to achieve will only happen when you believe in yourself. Sometimes you have to show others what you’re talking about. Show them what you mean when you say you’re going to be successful.
2. LISTEN TO YOUR HEART
It’s always good to listen to your heart because if it sounds too good to be true half of the time that’s exactly what it is. Your heart will lead you but your mind will distract you. Always listen to your heart.
3. GET A JOB BIH
You’re fresh outta high school so my guess is you have big goals and dreams which is really good if you do. You’re going to need money to finance those dreams. And also to survive.
4. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR FAILURE
I am proud to say that I have failed at adulting a couple of times. Like when I forget to feed myself because I have too much homework and have to go to work. I have worn the same pair of socks for an entire week and forgot to shower for two days I know nasty ?. Lol but that’s adulthood for you. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
5. YOUR FRIENDS ARE NOT REALLY YOUR FRIENDS SIS
I have lost a shit ton of “friends” that were just hanging with me for the good times. Beware of those people who don’t put you in check when you’re being an asshole, most times they don’t care about you.
6. STAY HOME IF YOU CAN
So moved out of my mom’s house earlier this year and things have not being silver and gold but they’re still not bad. The goal is to save and if you have a roof over your head where you don’t have to pay bills then stay and save.
7. CUT THE SPENDING
Save, save, save. Clothing stores will pretend to be your friend but trust me they’re not. Save what you can.
8. HOLD ON TO GOD
I was literally about to lose my mind this summer trying to figure shit out by myself. God is there when you’re done with all the stressing and calculating. Lean on him and you’ll see what happens.
9. FAMILY AIN’T SHIT
10. SOMETIMES JUST GO WITH THE WIND
Don’t overthink and overaplan because 9/10 your plan will always fail and your overthinking won’t help. Just go with the flow and try to take control of what you can and leave the rest. Enjoy your life.
